The theme of the magnificent tower-shaped sculpture in front of you is “Light of Medicine”. Four statues constitute its main body. I guess you may be quite curious about their identities, so I would like to give you an introduction. The statue facing the east features Hippocrates, an eminent ancient Greek medical scientist and medical educator who is hailed as “Father of Western Medicine”; the statue facing the south features Claudius Galenus, an ancient Roman medical scientist who initiated zootomy; the one facing the west with a truncheon in hand is Avicenna, an ancient Arabic medical scientist who wrote The Canon of Medicine; the last one facing the frontage of the International Communication &Exhibition Center is a virtual image from time-honored China, symbolizing the all-embracing masters who have absorbed the medical essence of the Chinese nation since ancient times. All of the four characters represent the great masters of the medical circles who bring mankind tremendous medical wisdom.
